Bouncy Castle Hire

There are literally thousands of businesses throughout the UK that hire out bouncy castles and other inflatables. How do you choose between them? Our guide below gives you some tips to help decide and a few questions to ask.

Generally speaking, like with tradesmen, it’s always a good idea to use a bouncy castle hire business that comes recommended to you. If your kids have been to parties recently, they may have been on one - ask the parents for the details.

If you can’t get any recommendations then you can look on the internet, in the local paper or in the phone book / Yellow Pages. You could also consider asking your local Church of Youth Group.

Once you’ve decided who to speak to about renting your bouncy castle, you should consider the following points to help you make the decision as to which bouncy castle hire business to use:

  • See it in the flesh! Don’t rely on a photo of the bouncy castle that you may get - go along to see the bouncy castle in action (maybe at another party if there is time) so as to get a true picture of the size/scale of it.
  • References. Ask for references from recent customers - phone them up and ask them whether they would recommend the hirer.
  • Contract. Make sure you get a written agreement outlining the key points - such as the amount payable, the date and times, the full contact details of the hirer (including emergency telephone number).
  • Damage. Ask about what would happen if the bouncy castle was accidentally damaged - a small puncture from the buckle on a shoe for example. Who would be responsible for repairing it - you or the rental company?
  • Money. Be careful about paying up front, especially when the date of hire is a long time in the future. It’s best to pay a deposit and to then pay the full balance when the bouncy castle is collected. Always ask for a receipt.
  • Conditions. Are there any special rules for children playing on the bouncy castle? For example: no adults, no shoes, do not use when raining or in high winds. There may also be restrictions on the number of people that can safely use the castle at any one time.
  • Access/size. Is there sufficient access for the size of castle that you are hiring? If you want it in your back garden but this is only accessible through your house, is the bouncy castle company happy with this?
  • Insurance. Does the bouncy castle company have inflatable hire liability insurance? Ask to see their insurance certificate. It is important to have bouncy castle insurance so that, in the event of any accidents or damage, you can be happy that things will be covered. Peace of mind is very important, especially if other parents are trusting you with their children for your party.

Don’t get too bogged down in the detail that we have mentioned here - remember, above all else, have fun!
