Bouncy Castle Safety Advice
The bouncy castle is a must have for many children’s birthday parties. Children love getting into castles, jumping around and generally enjoying the experience of bouncing with their friends.
While it is a fun experience for children of various ages, it also comes with safety risks parents and adults supervising the party must consider before hiring a bouncy castle. Fortunately, most safety tips are simple to follow and require nothing more than paying attention to the rules of the bouncy castle.Limit the Number of Bouncers:
The safe limit number will vary depending on the size of the bouncy castle. Though this is true, the number of children bouncing in the castle at any time should never look crowded. If it looks crowded, a few children need to come out and wait until their turn.
Too many bouncers in the castle at one time will risk injuries as children run into each other or fall over and are stepped on.
Parental Supervision:
Parents should always supervise the children in the bouncy castle. At least one adult should watch and provide directions as necessary. This also allows a parent to direct who goes into the bouncy castle at the same time, allowing younger children in at one time and older in the next turn.
Anchor the Castle:
The castle should always have anchors installed to keep it from falling over. Children are energetic in the bouncy castle and might cause it to knock over if it is not properly anchored.
The company providing the castle should properly install it for the parents, including providing anchoring. If parents are unsure of whether it is fully installed or properly anchored, asking about it before children get into the castle is a necessity.
Turn it off in Poor Weather:
If it starts raining or becomes windy, the bouncy castle needs to turn off and be put away. It is a safety hazard to allow children to bounce in poor weather. Turn it off until the weather clears up to avoid injuries.
All Bouncers in the Castle Must Remove Their Shoes:
The risk of accidentally stepping on another child in the bouncy castle means that all children should take off their shoes before entering the castle. The adult supervising children in the bouncy castle should check that shoes are removed or remind children to remove their shoes before allowing them to enter the bouncy castle.
Secure Blower Placement:
If the blower becomes unplugged from the castle, it will result in deflation and might cause injuries to children and even the risk of suffocation. The person who sets up the bouncy castle or a parent should ensure the placement of the blower is secure against the risk of accidental disconnection. Putting it to the side where children and adults will not walk or move around is the best placement to avoid accidents.
Never Move the Castle:
The bouncy castle should never move from the original placement. Moving the castle might cause it to become unstable, pull the blower out or risk improper anchoring in the new location. Once the castle is set, that should remain the only place for the castle.
A bouncy castle is fun, but only if the appropriate safety precautions are implemented. Parents and anyone setting up the castle must remember to check all safety considerations before allowing children into the bouncy castle.
